Background

Pune-based Greenex Environmental Pvt. Ltd. has entered into an international partnership with EPD Global of Norway to offer Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) services to Indian manufacturers. The agreement was announced in Pune by joint Managing Directors Sagar Ahiwale and Arati Bhosale-Ahiwale, after signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Håkon Hauan, CEO of The Norwegian EPD Foundation.

Under the MoU, Greenex Environmental will carry out environmental impact assessments for products made by Indian businesses. EPD Global will then publish an internationally recognised Environmental Product Declaration for each product. The companies said the collaboration will help manufacturers, including MSMEs and large industries, improve sustainability performance and meet global compliance needs.

Arati Bhosale-Ahiwale noted that global buyers increasingly prefer products backed by EPDs, giving Indian exporters a competitive edge. She added that although EPDs are not mandatory yet, they are expected to become standard practice as countries push for lower environmental footprints.

Greenex Environmental has worked with more than 50 companies across key sectors, including chemicals, engineering, metals, and food processing. The new partnership is expected to raise the quality of EPDs to global levels while reducing certification costs by nearly 70 per cent.

Calling the partnership a major step for India’s sustainability efforts, Sagar Ahiwale said it will help industries adopt low-carbon and globally compliant practices. He added that the initiative will also support India’s long-term target of achieving Net-Zero emissions by 2070.

Greenex Environmental, which currently operates from Pune, Mumbai, Gujarat, and Dubai, plans to expand to more industrial locations across the country as demand for sustainability certifications continues to grow.
