Background

GE Aerospace has announced a fresh investment of $14 million in its Pune manufacturing facility, marking a major boost to India’s growing role in the global aerospace supply chain. The company said the new fund will help upgrade automation and expand advanced production capabilities at the site, as GE completes ten years of local operations in Pune.

This move follows a $30 million investment announced last year, reflecting GE’s strong commitment to India’s manufacturing sector. The Pune facility has already become a key location for producing components used in some of the world’s most advanced commercial jet engines.

Vishwajit Singh, Managing Director at GE Aerospace Pune, said the team has built strong technical strength through the years. “The Pune team has developed robust expertise and, leveraging a nationwide network of suppliers, has provided components for some of our most sophisticated commercial jet engines, prioritizing safety and quality at every step,” he stated. Singh added that the new funds will support national efforts under the “Make in India” initiative, while also improving efficiency and output.

Over the past decade, the company has trained more than 5,000 people in precision manufacturing, creating skilled jobs and career opportunities for local talent. The Pune site connects over 2,200 suppliers across the country, including more than 300 in and around Pune.

Certified with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards, the plant stands out for its strong sustainability and operational systems. GE uses its FLIGHT DECK model here, which has helped reduce waste and raise capacity. With this upgrade, Pune is expected to play an even bigger role in India’s aerospace manufacturing sector in the years ahead.
