Background

Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) has invited bids to appoint a General Consultant (GC) for the extension of Pune Metro’s Phase 1 and Phase 2 corridors, marking a key step toward the city’s next wave of metro development. The tender seeks a consultant who will steer planning work, review designs, coordinate between project teams, and manage essential technical tasks linked to the planned expansion. The contract period is six months.

As per the tender schedule, bids must be submitted by 23 December 2025. Maha-Metro will conduct the pre-bid meeting on 4 December 2025 to address queries from interested firms. The Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) for the bid has been set at ₹1.83 crore.

The GC’s role will focus on preparing the blueprint for the network’s expansion beyond the existing Phase 1 system. Pune Metro now operates two corridors that together cover 31.254 km. The Purple Line runs from PCMC to Swargate, covering 16.589 km and having 14 stations. The Aqua Line runs between Vanaz and Ramwadi over 14.665 km and includes 16 stations.

Looking ahead, Maha-Metro plans an 82.5 km Phase 2 network that will extend the Aqua Line in both directions and add two new corridors. Out of this proposed length, 44.09 km has already received approval for construction, signalling strong progress toward the city’s larger goal of building a more connected public transport system.

By launching this tender, Maha-Metro aims to speed up technical work and ensure smooth construction of Pune’s growing metro network.
